Seiko · ref 7548-700B · 1978–1985
The 7548 is the quartz sibling of the 6309, and it's where Seiko's long-running SKX case shape began. Seiko released it in late 1978, the same year it launched the 600m Golden Tuna, which Seiko counts as the world's first quartz diver. The 7548 was the everyday version, rated to 150m in a case about 42mm across. That case carried on through the 6309-7290 and the 7002 to the SKX007, so if you like the SKX shape, this is where it comes from. Seiko made the 7548 until about 1985 in a long list of variants and dial colors, and the 700B is one of several references. With that many versions around, match the dial, bezel and caseback to known 700B examples before you buy. Quartz means no winding and no shaking it to life, which makes it a good pick if you want a late-1970s Seiko diver you can just put on and wear.
The quartz movement is the main unknown, and a watch that won't run may need more than a battery. Like other vintage Seiko divers, many have replacement dials, hands and inserts, and the many factory variants make mismatched parts easy to miss.
Buying guide
For a Pepsi quartz diver you can just put on and wear, we'd take the January 1980 watch titled serviced, with two straps, at $428 delivered. There are about 18 for sale and most ask $430–625 delivered, with Japan-listed ones adding up to $145 shipping. Ask whether a watch runs on a fresh battery, since a dead 7548 can need more than one, match the dial, bezel and caseback to known 700B examples, and check that the serial's year and month fit the 1978–1985 run. Check the seller's feedback and return policy on the item page too, because eBay's search cards don't show them, and skip the $722 Japan listing, where $145 shipping puts it about $95 over the band.
$375.00delivered
The lowest fixed price at $375 delivered from a US seller, about $55 under the $430–625 band. The title doesn't say it runs, so ask whether it's running on a fresh battery.
